On the move.
My right side continues to make progress. Each day a little more movement, a little more sensation, a little more feeling. It’s progress but as you can see I still have some way to go until I’m back on the cricket pitch…..! The problem was that the developments that where happening on the right side were only highlighting the lack of progress on the left which still showed no change. A ridiculous notion I know, any step in the right direction is a blessing and should not be a source of frustration. When faced with the daunting prospect of lasting limitation, the want for more becomes a daily emotional struggle. There’s nothing wrong with those goals changing as you move through the gears but I needed to keep reminding myself that I AM doing ok. Focus on the process not the outcome.
One of these early goals was to get off the blood pressure drugs and out of ICU. I can happily say that the next day I was on my way to a new ward in a new hospital. Thanks to all of the special people at Southmead ICU for taking such great care of me. You helped me through two of the toughest weeks of my life and I can’t wait to come back and see you all (hopefully under different circumstances!) ✌️
