Ed Jackson

Hi i’m Ed. In April 2017 I broke my neck diving into a swimming pool. The accident left me paralysed from the shoulders down and cut short my professional rugby career. This blog documents my journey from the first few days in intensive care to who knows where…..

Now that was a proper party 🚀 . 8 months ago @ollybarkley and I turned up at Euridge Manor to return some candles and immediately started to dream of throwing a party there. To turn that dream into a reality took a hell of a lot of hard work and support from some brave people. . There aren’t enough characters in an insta post to cover everyone but special mention to @carlywilford and @charliedavies_9 for the bangers, @eddchef and @chefneilsmith for the world class grub, @tanqueraygin and @fevertreemixers for the hangover and @euridge_events for the best party venue imaginable. . It had been six months of planning and whilst I was in Nepal @ollybarkley and @loisjackson8 grafted and pulled everything together. I had an idea of what might be possible but I genuinely couldn’t believe what the two of them ended up creating.... I couldn’t be prouder to be working with the wife and surrogate son...we’re pushing the boat out, changing perceptions and starting to make a difference and believe me 2020 is just going to be getting bigger and better... @m2mpresents @beatpresents @m2mclimb ✌️🕺🏔 . #mm2mountains #food #light #sound #charity #climb #party #fun #music
Going inside yourself... . ‘It had been two and a half weeks in the mountains and we were just two days from our final destination when we hit the Chatrala pass. At well over 4700m it is almost higher than anything we have in Europe so to climb it after what we’d already been through was going to be a real test of resilience. My body was running on empty, the temperature had dropped and hailstones the size of golf balls were lashing against my thin layer of waterproofs. For hours we climbed into the mist, no concept of how far we had come or how far we had to go. The slippery surface meant that the mind was having to work on overtime placing every step so as to avoid a fall. We had six hours until darkness so I couldn’t afford to stop moving but the exposure, the concentration and the physical exertion were taking me right to the edge of my capabilities. In times like this I have to go inside my mind because if I listened to my body i would just stop.’ . You can actually hear the demons coming out if you listen closely 😬. .
